Weekly Wrap-up, February 18th – 24th
What a week. We’re sitting here in the Phoenix airport, getting ready to head back home to Philadelphia and this is the first time I can really look back on the past few days and how crazy they were.
An amazing editorial assignment brought us to the southwest for a week, shooting all over the state of Arizona. An equally amazing force of mother nature threw a wrench in our plans in the form of a state-wide snowstorm. What did we do? What we always do – we made pictures. Keep reading for the full story…

We flew out of Philly a week ago, looking forward to the sunshine and warm temperatures of the southwest. We knew that our shoot was taking us all across the state of Arizona, but we didn’t quite know what mother nature had in store for us.

On our first day on the ground in Arizona we took advantage of the incredible weather and shot a handful of landscapes – making sure to be inspired at the “inspiration point” outlook.

Chris and I ventured out into the wild to make some photos. Nevermind the cliff and 200ft drop directly to our left.

After the first few days in Phoenix, we hit the road, heading east into the wilderness of Arizona. We were racing against the weather – a freak blizzard was bearing down on the entire state and we were expecting a wrench to be thrown into the works…

Our shoot locations took us well off the beaten path – onto the backroads and wilderness of Arizona. I wish I could say more about the editorial project, but that will have to wait until the magazine is published. No worries though, we’ll have plenty of behind the scenes to share.

Not exactly what you imagine when you think of Arizona, huh? It was damn cold for most of our shoot days, but we braved the elements in the name of making photos. For the record my toes are still frozen.
As far as what you may have missed this week on the internet:
- We followed that up with our adventures in part two of the shoot as well
- We expressed our love for our hometown of Philadelphia
- We went back to Texas in our latest from the archives post
- Heather Elder shares her latest whirlwind tour of meetings and events as a rep
- Fellow shooter Ron Berg delves into his project based on Kentucky Derby Fashion
- APhotoEditor has an excellent read on wealth management for photographers
- The New Yorker has a great article on the weirdness of stock photography
Last but not least…

I promise you that neither Chris nor I ordered this sandwich. We swear.

Fried Bologna is soooo good!
if its fixed the same way I used to eat it as a kid, its not deep fried like you might thing… not like fried chicken…
you just take a little butter in a pan and sort of “fry it” like you would if you were cooking bacon in the skillet. put it over a fried egg sunny side up on toast, and you have the best breakfast sandwich ever!!!
