Sun, Sand & Photography
The sun is shining, days are long, and evenings are warm. It’s the season for shorts, cold beers, grilling by the pool, and trips to the beach. As part of our summer tradition, we photographed the New Jersey Monthly shore guide for 2012. These shots may look like they were taken in the last few weeks, but we actually tackled this assignment at the end of the summer last season – and I’ve been waiting almost a year to show the results. If you’re anything like us, these pictures make you want to throw on a bathing suit, grab a towel and sandals and hit the surf. My advice? Pack a cooler, get in the car and head to the nearest ocean (or large body of water with a beach). Until then, keep reading for more photos of sun & sand…
We spent the the day shooting in Cape May, New Jersey – also know as exit zero to those familiar with the infamous NJ garden state parkway.
When you’ve got a great crew, gorgeous model, and a sunny day at the beach, there’s really not too much that can go wrong.
Well maybe aside from getting a little water or sand in your shoes, but its still not a bad way to spend the day.
We shot a ton of options on the beaches of Cape May, making sure to work on our tans when we got a minute of downtime.
and of course we needed someone to test the kite and make sure it would fly – I was lucky enough to have this unfortunate photo taken of me.
we also took the photoshoot to the streets of Cape May, with assistant David Ohl playing traffic cop as necessary. Next time we’ll get him deputized.
And what’s a better way to wrap up a long, hot day of shooting at the beach? Ice cream of course. Too bad our model was the only one who got to enjoy that waffle cone… if I remember correctly, I was stuck cleaning sand out of the octabanks. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it – eating ice cream that is.
