Double Weekly Wrap-up, May 21st – June 1st

It’s been a crazy past few weeks for our crew. While almost everyone else across the country was celebrating a laid back memorial day weekend, Chris and superstar assistant Jared (@jaredcastaldi) were braving the 110° heat in Arizona on an editorial shoot. They managed to catch their breath for a second while taking a day of personal shooting and traveling up to Sedona AZ to shoot and experience the famous red rocks. Arizona rolled into Texas, Louisiana, and Texas for a second time to round out the week of traveling. As for me? I’ve been holding down the fort back in Philadelphia, managing the studio in their absence. Luckily for us, their adventure has been well documented - keep reading for some shots of the past two weeks…

I suppose if you have to spend memorial day weekend working, it might as well be in a field of amazing wildflowers.

Apparently it’s the driest dry-season in recent history in Arizona. Which means lots of dust – not exactly the best for photo gear.

Looks like “lots of dust” was an understatement. Guess who’ll be doing some cleaning when the crew returns to Philly? This guy.

Chris and Jared also spent a lot of time on the road, traveling between Arizona, Louisiana, and Texas. They’ve logged a ton of miles on the highway.

And of course encountered the finest roadside attractions that interstate highway provides.

Not to mention a ton of healthy eating on the road… Yes, somewhere, somehow Cholula beef jerky exists – and I’m pissed that I didn’t get to try any.

As far as what you may have missed this week on the internet:

 - We shared the story of diving for abalone off the northern coast of California

 - I went back to 2010 with Jeff Elkins in our latest post from the Archive

 - We shared brand new landscapes from our recent shoot in California

 - PDN had a great article on where buyers and editors are looking for photography [part 1]  -  [pat 2]

 - Heather Elder shares an article about the power of Pintrest

 - A Photo Editor features fellow shooter Hunter Freeman’s work for the SF Zoo

Last but not least…

It looks like they’ve got some pretty spicy peppers down in Texas…
