New Conceptual Portraiture

We’re excited to be releasing two brand new photos today. These conceptual portraits came about in a very similar process as our airplanes girl photo that we’ve blogged about in the past few weeks. Make sure to check out the main portfolio to see them in their full-size awesomeness.

Keep reading for some behind the scenes shots of how these photos came together…

Our Kite flyer model was actually an exceptionally talented method actor – he got so into his struggle with the kite that we were afraid he was going to break the rope.

Here’s another angle we worked with our kite flyer – we had a live preview of the shoot running on the iPad the entire time. Definitely beats reviewing photos of the back of the LCD screen.

We also have a few behind the scenes from our second shoot thanks to Alex Bohn, an RIT photo student who was working with us for the day. Tom Morrissey, our talented model for the dock jumper photo brought life and spirit to the studio, and kept everyone laughing all day long.

Tom was a good sport, it’s not everyday that you’ve got to throw on a pair of swim trunks and pretend to be on a dock in front of a camera, but he did so without hesitation.

Here’s a shot of Chris and Tom reviewing the different shots of the day, working to pick an expression they like best.

I love these, a perfect continuation of the air planes shoot. The colour tones seem a bit more pastel like this time, I like that, it makes it feel more like a drawing.
