Weekly Wrap-up, August 8-12th

Robert here, the studio manager, assistant, and sometimes-contributor to Chris’s blog. I read a lot of blogs out there on the internet, both photo-related and non-photography based, and I’ve always noticed at the end of the week they post some kind of look back on the week, just to make sure everyone out there didn’t miss anything important. Since we’ve started adding more and more content to our blog, I realized it might not be a bad idea to write a weekly wrap-up myself.

It’s been quite a week – we had a few days of back-to-back shooting, creating the need for the contraption you see above, our new rigged-up Pocketwizard trigger. Don’t be afraid though, it’s not rigged to blow anything up, only wirelessly trigger some lights. That is unless one of our flash packs happens to malfunction (we’ve seen a few Dynalite packs blow up pretty spectacularly in the past). I swear when I ordered that thing on the internet, it didn’t look so menacing… the button in the photo wasn’t red.

All of our shooting this week also created the need for some advanced-level snacking solutions. Now we just need to figure out how to rig a beer cooler up to one of our C-stands with a superclamp and we’re set.

It’s been a great week all over the internet as well – in case you missed anything:

- We released the second video project, an interview portrait with Squirrel Hunter, Mac English

- The gallery for PDN Faces 2011 finally went live (you can see all six of the images they chose from Chris’s Titusville series of portraits)

- Redux Pictures featured our spread with Michael Vick for Philadelphia Magazine

- Rob Haggart of APhotoEditor featured part of our “Meaning of Life…” interview with Amy Berkley

- We found out the “Meaning of Life…” in 10 questions with badass photo director, Amy Berkley

Last but not least, a sneak peek at a clue for Chris’s next destination for shooting landscapes. He’s been practicing for somewhere in Europe by riding Vespas all over Philadelphia. The better question is if you can strap down a tripod and camera to the back of one of those.
