You may remember a few weeks ago when Chris and I took an eleven hour detour up Route 1 in California between Los Angeles and San Francisco. We were in search of whatever scenery we could shoot along the way on our quest to find and photograph the Bixby Canyon bridge. The resulting photos just came out of retouching and we’re happy to share them – enjoy!

We’re headed back to summer 2010 for our latest post from the Archive. Chris and team traveled to Canada to spend two straight days shooting Cirque du Soleil behind the scenes at their world headquarters in Montreal. Aside from making a handful of incredible photos (including the American Photography 27 award winner shown above) the trip provided for a great story. So what do we do after a long week of shooting and traveling like crazy on the west coast? Relax? Kick back by some swanky hotel pool sipping drinks with umbrellas sticking out the top? Hell no. We get up at 4:30am, throw on wetsuits and dive into the potentially shark infested, icy cold Pacific ocean to hunt for gigantic sea snails, also known as abalone. We were back in Philly for this week, working to get caught up in the studio and making some photos (read: also enjoying the awesome early summer warmth). After a long run of travel, we took advantage of a few days back at home base to update our image archives, work with the retouching team, and even print some new work for the walls in the studio.
